The ninth edition of the Regions Championships is to be held on four golf courses around the country at the beginning of May in a completely new format. The changes do not only include moving the date to spring, but also duration, geographical division, ranking category and award category.
The first significant modification is the division of Poland into four regions where championships are going to take place. The Northern Region Championships are to involve the Provinces of Pomerania, Warmia-Masuria and Kujawy-Pomerania, and the tournament is going to be held by Postołowo GC. Golfers from West Pomerania, Lubuskie, Greater Poland and Lower Silesia Provinces will compete in the Western Region Championships at Binowo Park GC. The Southern Region Championships (the Provinces of Opole, Silesia, Lesser Poland and Podkarpackie) will be held by Rosa Private GC. The Eastern Region Championships (the Provinces of Lublin, Łódź, Mazovia and Podlaskie) are going to be organized by Sobienie Królewskie G&CC, near Warsaw.
The duration of tournament has been extended to 3 days. A cut is going to be made following the second round of play and 72 best results and draws are to be qualified for the final round.
What is more, the tournaments have been categorized as SUPER*. It is going to be yet another occasion to win points for the PGU ranking in the upcoming season. Prizes will be awarded to women and men in stroke play gross classification, and if organizers decide so – also in stroke play net.
