Jan Szmidt in the top thirty of the Italian Championship


On Saturday, the Italian International Championship finished at Italian Acaya GC. Romano Andrea from Italy was the winner. Jan Szmidt was ranked 28th.

As it unfolded, the Italian Championship was more and more promising for the Polish golfer. Szmidt started by carding a 75 (+4), and he was ranked in the second fifty. On the second day, his result was better by two strokes, and he climbed by 16 positions in the classification. Our golfer recorded the best result in the third round after he shot a +1 and made it through the CUT without problems with the total of 220 strokes. In the final, which had to be renewed due to strong wind, Jan Szmidt carded a 73 and was ranked 26th with the total of 293 strokes (+9).

The tournament was dominated by Romano Andrea with the total of 280 (-4) strokes, who was in the lead from the very beginning. Manfredi Gianmarco (281) was one stroke behind the leader, Bolton Jake (284) from England came in third place.
