25 years of the PGU: The PGU’s Board establishes the Committee on Jubilee Awards and Decorations

At the end of November, the PGU’s Board established the Committee on Jubilee Awards and Decorations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of forming the Polish Golf Union. Bogusław Bil, the president of the Polish Senior Golf Association, was entrusted with assembling the Committee.

The task of the Committee is to select from among announced candidacies and award those who rendered great service to the development of Polish golf. Among its members, there are representatives of different regions in Poland, as well as representatives of women’s, senior, and professional golf selected on the basis of parity.

Sessions of the Committee will be chaired by Bogusław Bil (Modry Las GC/PSGS). Others members include: Elżbieta Górska (Binowo Park GC), Marzena Gradecka (Gradi GC), Wiesław Kapral (Śląski KG), Wacław Laszkiewicz (PGA Polska), and Zbigniew Lepka (Krakowski KG est. 2002).

“Next year, we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of golf’s presence in Poland. On this occasion, the PGU established the Committee, whose work I have the honour to supervise. I would like to thank you for the trust and conviction that I will rise up to this difficult and sensitive challenge. I would like to assure you that all committee members will spare no effort to make the elections objective and accurate.”

Apart from the PGU’s Board and the Committee members, candidacy can be announced by club authorities, PGA Poland, and Contributing Members of the PGU. Submitted proposals will be evaluated by the Committee, which will next apply to the PGU’s Board for awarding selected persons with the following decorations:

1) medals on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishing the PGU

2) the Order of Sports Merit awarded by the Minister of Sports and Tourism to people who are particularly active and have outstanding achievements related to fostering sport.

Completed applications can be submitted via email: biuro@pzgolf.pl till 15 January 2018.

The award ceremony will be held during the Polish Golf Gala at the end of May next year.

The Polish Golf Union was established on 31 July 1993 in Warsaw and will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its activity. On this occasion, many attractions were planned: not only the Gala, but also the Tournament celebrating 25 years of the PGU. It will be hosted by First Warsaw G&CC on Sunday, 27th May. Another attraction scheduled on this day is the 7th National Golf Day.
